The hype before the storm was felt by everyone waiting in the lobby of Chapel Arts for the first runway show of the 2008 Vancouver Fashion Week. After a few drinks and the crowd stirring up some noise, the show finally started (fashionably late, of course).
The runway room was packed as expected with fashion enthusiasts standing everywhere to get a look at up and coming designs by Twitch, Shine , Hipline (leather-free), and Zena Fares, who gets mad props for a sexy show played out to Lil Wayne’s new ‘lollipop’, as well as for having models who are not afraid of walking down the runway barefoot. Also getting kudos for daring to be different is world-famous designer Anna Sui, whose collection was saved for the end of the night and did not disappoint, with some of the finest detail in clothing.
After the runway show guest were escorted upstairs to view the Jewellery show featuring Birks and other emerging designers such as Jolie Mack, Solomon Woodworks and M3 Designs
